Endless Summer By Jennifer Echols

Summary:
Two irresistible boys. One unforgettable summer.

Lori can't wait for her summer at the lake. She loves wake boarding and hanging with her friends—including the two hotties next door. With the Vader brothers, she's always been just one of the guys. Now that she's turning sixteen, she wants to be seen as one of the girls, especially in the eyes of Sean, the older brother. But that's not going to happen—not if the younger brother, Adam, can help it.

Lori plans to make Sean jealous by spending time with Adam. Adam has plans of his own for Lori. As the air heats up, so does this love triangle. Will Lori's romantic summer melt into one hot mess?

Endless Summer is the sequel to The Boys Next Door. This edition includes both The Boys Next Door and Endless Summer.

My Thoughts: I'll start by saying this book contains The Boys Next Door which was published a few years ago and the sequel Endless Summer. In The Boys Next Door we meet Lori and the Vader boys, Sean, Adam, and Cameron. Cameron is in college, Sean is getting ready to go away to college, and Adam is still in high school. He's in Lori's grade. Lori lives next door to the boys but she never really sees them during the school year so she looks forward to the summers. She gets to spend the summer working for the boy's family so she gets to spend everyday with them and every weekend going to their amazing parties.

This summer Lori makes a vow to get Sean to finally notice her. Of course he does flirt with her but he flirts with all the girls! So, she hatches a plan with Adam to make her look like she's girlfriend material so they date each other. He also wants to make Rachel jealous. Rachel is a girl who he was dating.

Lori and Adam spend lots of time together and things go as planned. Lori thinks Sean is becoming jealous and her plan is working!

The Boys Next Door was so much fun!

Onto Endless Summer, we are back with the full cast of characters. Endless Summer only takes place a few weeks after The Boys Next Door so we are still reading about the same summer. We are back with Lori dating one of the Vader brothers. (don't want to give away spoilers).

Lori and mystery guy get caught staying out all night, they really did fall asleep. Her dad forbids her from seeing him and so she gets the idea that she will date boys worst so than her dad comes around and lets her date him again. I also loved the Tree house Scene! I don't want to give away too many spoilers; I don't want to ruin it for you!

Overall: Endless Summer was such an amazing book. It was a really thick book and I stayed up late reading it and finished it within two days! I loved it! I adore Jennifer Echols and I will read anything she writes! I loved the Vader brothers. Adam was my favorite! Loved this book!!!

Cover: Love It! I do like the cartoon covers but I really love this one!

A Few Minutes with Jennifer!

I have a special presentation for you! Its an interview with Jennifer Laurens! Come on, you've heard of her right? I know you have! She has a few stand alone books plus the Heavenly books! And I've reviewed some of her books here at Princess Bookie!

Me: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

Jennifer: I've always enjoyed writing. I wrote in my youth. It wasn't until my 6 children were all in school that I decided to take it up again. Another reason I started writing was because my teenage girls wanted clean romances they could read. They liked the tension without the sex. So, Falling for Romeo, Magic Hands and Nailed were my projects for them.

Me: As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

Jennifer: A mom. As an only child, I had visions of grandeur of big, close, happy families who live happily ever after. LOL. I started out wanting 12. Once I had two, that number dropped considerably. We've had our issues, but our family is big, close and happy because we work hard and respect each other.

Me: What was the best book you read in 2010? And why?

Jennifer: Oh dear. The best book is a book I'm reading in my critique group by a fellow author. It's a fabulous. I'm surrounded by great talent.

Me: What do you like to do besides write? Watch Movies? Read Books? Spend time with family?

Jennifer: Family. Shopping. Travel. Getting to know readers rates up there with family. I do my best to chat with everyone who wants to chat with me. I love hearing about them -- all around the world.

Me: What is your favorite tv show at the moment; if you watch tv?

Jennifer: Easy: Vampire Diaries.

Me: Can you tell me what your working on right now?

Jennifer: I can't. Except that it's a YA urban fantasy/paranormal of sorts.

Me: I've seen your new book around, Overprotected. Where did you get the idea for the book? Did you enjoy writing it? Most difficult setback?

Jennifer: OMG I love this story. ( yes, we authors CAN love our stories ) It's the first idea that ever popped into my head and it's been written about three thousand times, ten thousand different ways! JK. Part of that statement is true. It's an edgy, coming-of-age story about a girl fighting for her independence. I LOVED writing it. Now, it's in the final stages before it goes off to the book designer. Most difficult setback in regards to this book: clearing my head of the previous versions to start afresh with this one.

How awesome is it that she likes Vampire Diaries??? I love that show!!!

Generation Dead

By Daniel Waters

Summary: Phoebe and her fellow Oakvale High students aren't quite sure why dead teenagers started coming back to life and attending their school. The eerie phenomenon is attributed to a combination of "teenage hormones and fast food preservatives," happening only in the United States. Though Oakvale has a reputation for being most supportive of these "living impaired" teens, most of the students aren't happy about the thought of having to eat, study, and socialize in an environment permeated with the deceased. Unlike most of her fellow students, Goth-girl Phoebe finds herself harboring a crush on Tommy, one of the dead teens. A love triangle soon develops when her friend Adam, who is supportive of Tommy and the zombies, realizes that he is also in love with her. A threat by another student to destroy the dead teens ultimately forces Adam to choose between old alliances and protecting the living dead teens he has come to admire.

My Thoughts: I'm not a fan of zombies. I usually just don't care for them and I find no interest in reading about them so I was a little wary going into Generation Dead. Generation Dead is definitely a new take on the world of dead people aka zombies. We are introduced to Phoebe who is basically a goth girl. She has a guy friend named Adam who of course is in love with her, yet she does not realize this. The town she lives in is becoming a new home for a lot of teen zombies. One of her friends even died and turned into a zombie. She also meets the new kid in school Tommy, who is a zombie. He seems a little smarter than most zombies and his motor skills are more acquired. Than there is Pete, he acts jerky and is not compassionate at all, especially towards zombies.

This book was full of a lot of supporting characters and they all balanced out each other. Nobody was perfect. They knew each other were not perfect and yet most of them did accept each other which I enjoyed and looked up too. Phoebe starts a budding romance with Tommy but is really unsure what it is or how she really feels. Adam sits on the sidelines and just hopes she starts to notice her. He does try to be happy for her but its hard sometimes.

Pete is out to get the zombies. He wants them completely gone, not coming back from the dead. He feels like they will steal all the humans lives away from them eventually, their jobs, their girlfriends, etc.

I really enjoyed Generation Dead a lot more than I had originally thought I would. I think this one leads up to a great second novel. I have a feeling I am going to like the second one more because now Phoebe has even more challenges. Do not read the description for the second book if you haven't read the first! It has too many spoilers in it!

Overall: I really liked this one. Hopefully I learn to love zombies more and find more books to read about zombies!

Cover: Its really neat. I like the girl in a cheerleader uniform and I like all the coloring. It's very eye catching.

Dash and Lily's Book Of Dares

By: David Levithan and Rachel Cohn

Summary: “I’ve left some clues for you.
If you want them, turn the page.
If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.”

So begins the latest whirlwind romance from the New York Times bestselling authors of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist. Lily has left a red notebook full of challenges on a favorite bookstore shelf, waiting for just the right guy to come along and accept its dares. But is Dash that right guy? Or are Dash and Lily only destined to trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations across New York? Could their in-person selves possibly connect as well as their notebook versions? Or will they be a comic mismatch of disastrous proportions?

My Thoughts: I was so excited to get this book in the mail! I had seen a few people raving about it on twitter so I knew I just had to read it! Plus it sounded like so much fun! And it was! I adored Dash and Lily's Book Of Dares. First, we are introduced to the main characters Dash and Lily. Both of them have their own family situations and are both staying home for Christmas so Lily decides to leave a red notebook for someone to find with a dare in it. First things first, the place she leaves it in is The Strand. Come on, most of you book lovers know of The Strand. In New York! I've never been there but I'd love to visit the bookstore! Well, that right there got me really excited. She than leaves it by an awesome book and Dash just happens to be browsing that day and finds it. That starts a whirlwind fun challenge game! The things they had to do were so fun and so hilarious! Rubbing Santa's belly, cough cough!

I really enjoyed both Dash and Lily's pages. I loved both of their personalities and just the way both of them thought and felt. I loved how each of them wanted to meet one another face to face but were both hesitate because they were scared they would ruin the fun they were having by not really knowing each other. I haven't read Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist but I did watch the movie. I still think I would have enjoyed Dash and Lily much more. Their friends and relatives were also really funny.

I can't say much more without giving away too many spoilers. This is just one of those books that most people will love and have so much fun and be excited while reading it.

Overall: Loved It! This book was so awesome! I loved the alternating chapters, I loved the characters, I loved their personalities, I loved how they just belonged together. I knew it all along!

Cover: Love It! I think its one of the most colorful beautiful covers I've seen in a while!

Stupid Cupid by Rhonda Stapleton

Summary: Felicity's no ordinary teen matchmaker...she's a cupid!Felicity Walker believes in true love. That's why she applies for a gig at the matchmaking company Cupid's Hollow. But when Felicity gets the job, she learns that she isn't just a matchmaker...she's a cupid! (There's more than one of them, you know.)
Armed with a hot pink, tricked-out PDA infused with the latest in cupid magic (love arrows shot through email), Felicity works to meet her quota of successful matches. But when she bends the rules of cupidity by matching her best friend Maya with three different boys at once, disaster strikes. Felicity needs to come up with a plan to set it all right, pronto, before she gets fired...and before Maya ends up with her heart split in three.

My Thoughts: I had been really looking forward to this series and I waited until all 3 books were released until I started so I didn't have to wait a long time to read each one! We start off being introduced to Felicity who is a teenager who needs a job. She is best friends with Maya and Andy. I just love all their names, so creative! She gets a job at a matchmaking company. No, its not one you've ever heard of! Its called Cupid's Hollow. She barely reads the manual and just starts hooking people up by a few random similarities. Things backfire for her, but the biggest backfire of all is when she matches up Maya with 3 different guys. Sure they all have a few things in common with Maya but are any of them right for her? And than there is Felicity's problem, she has the hots for a guy named Derek who barely notices she's alive. You know the one, the jock in high school you wish would notice you but somehow you are always overlooked to him. Stupid Cupid was a fun quick read. It was full of laughs and happy/fun moments. Don't we all wish we could have three boyfriends? Maybe in theory but after a while it would get too complicated and Maya had just that problem. Trying to go to the movie with 2 guys is quite the task. I really loved Stupid Cupid and can't read to read the next book in the series. If you want to know what happens with Maya, Andy, and Felicity, read the book now!

Overall: Loved this one! It was just the right sweet blend of happiness and hilarious moments. Rhonda is a very talented funny author!

Cover: Love it! Didn't you notice they all have awesome covers?

Love Sucks! (Bite Me #2)

by Melissa Francis

Summary: AJ Ashe is moving on. Sure she still has not-so-sisterly feelings for Ryan, her ex-boyfriend-turned-step-brother, but there’s a new vampire in town and his name is Alexander Archer. Caught between the desire to move forward with Sexy Lexy and being drawn to her past with Ryan, AJ thinks life couldn’t get anymore complicated. Yeah, right. When her mother’s pregnancy is threatened, it looks like AJ’s long lost father is the only person who can save her. But Dad’s help comes with a price. AJ is forced join the evil side of her family, and a very creepy shape-shifting demon is there to make sure AJ cooperates. All this and she’s still got to plan the prom. Being a teenager is tough, but being a teenage vampire just flat out sucks. Pun totally intended.

My Thoughts: I adored Bite Me, Melissa's first book in this series so I was very excited to get Love Sucks! We are reintroduced to AJ and her dysfunctional family. Her mother, her stepfather, her step-siblings, etc. AJ and Ryan have been trying to get over each other. Remember Ryan? Her ex-boyfriend who is now her stepbrother? Talk about major drama and major dilemma. I couldn't even imagine that happening! Well, we learn more about Melissa's ancestors and how her distant family thinks she is the key to something more. Something dangerous, something that only she can do. Enter a few new characters sent to help AJ become a better fighter and learn to control her vampire nature more. Lex and his brother Robbie. I really liked Lex a lot. He and AJ have great chemistry but nothing compares to my love for Ryan. I loved the little sparks of jealousy throughout the novel between Ryan and AJ. They try to fight it, their love for each other but it still always shows through their emotions. Lex and AJ also have a very complex relationship but I just didn't feel the intensity between them. Yes, there were some hot scenes. For example, when AJ bit him. Yes, very very smexy but nothing compared to her kissing Ryan. I also hated that AJ and Ryan had so much trouble trusting each other throughout the novel.

Well, AJ's mothers pregnancy is threatened so everyone is on the lookout and has to be careful. AJ's Dad shows up and he's the only one who can help. He wants AJ to find the runes, which AJ has already found a few with Lex and Ryan's help.

I won't give away the whole plot since this one is pretty short and its easy to give away spoilers.

Overall: I really liked this one. I didn't love it as much as Bite Me but I think that is mainly because Ryan was absent a lot. The story focused more on AJ and Lex and I wanted more Ryan. I did enjoy the story and I was very happy on how it progressed.

Cover: Like it a lot! It's got the same appeal as Bite Me did!

Everyone thinks it was an accident, despite the phone threats Jane swears were real. But the truth is a thorny thing. As Jane's boyfriend, friends, and admirers come to visit, more memories surface--not just from the party, but from deeper in her past...including the night her best friend Bonnie died.

Nightshade

By Andrea Cremer

Summary: While other teenage girls daydream about boys, Calla Tor imagines ripping out her enemies’ throats. And she wouldn’t have it any other way. Calla was born a warrior and on her eighteenth-birthday she’ll become the alpha female of the next generation of Guardian wolves. But Calla’s predestined path veers off course the moment she saves the life of a wayward hiker, a boy her own age. This human boy’s secret will turn the young pack's world upside down and forever alter the outcome of the centuries-old Witches' War that surrounds them all.

My Thoughts: It took me a few hours to digest this after I was done! Yes, it was that good. I loved every second of it. I honestly didn't think I could finish it as fast as I did. It was over 400 pages long. We meet Calla who is a warrior, an alpha, a girl with a big heart. She is one of my favorite heroines, I was rooting for her the whole time. We get introduced to all the side characters including her brother and her friends aka pack. We are also introduced to Ren. He is the other alpha of his pack. The two packs will be joined together soon with Ren and Calla married to one another. One day Calla is out in the woods and comes upon a human boy. His name is Shay. He is getting attacked by a bear. Calla being as awesome as she is, steps in and saves his life. She turns into a wolf and Shay sees it! Of course this is forbidden and Calla knows she shouldn't have done this. Throughout the book we get to know more about Shay. He's moved to their town with his uncle. As time goes on, Shay and Calla get to know each other and a form bonds. She starts to wonder if her feelings are more but she knows this can't happen, as she's promised to Ren. Time progresses, and there for a little while towards the end, I could see what was coming. We never really know Shay's back-story until it just hits you smack in the face. I saw it coming but it still really alarmed me. There's so much more going on throughout the book though, actual plots, actual problems, and before you notice your done with the book and you just want more!!!!

What can I possibly say? I adored this book. I loved all the characters. There are quite a few of them and you have to get to know each one. Honestly, I like books with love triangles. I don't know why, I just do. I liked Ren because he was an alpha male (literally) and he had a confidence about him that attracted me. Part of me wanted to go up and lay my lips smack on him!!! But I also liked Shay because he was a sweet guy who Calla felt like she could be herself with. I am still torn between both of them.

This book is amazing. I loved it so much. I can't wait until book 2!!!

Overall: Awesome. This is definitely one that deserves more than 5 cupcakes!!!

Cover: Its really beautiful. Love her eyes, and the purple cover. Even love her hair!

Rules of Attraction

By Simone Elkeles

Summary: When Carlos Fuentes returns to America after living in Mexico for a year, he doesn’t want any part of the life his older brother, Alex, has laid out for him at a high school in Colorado . Carlos likes living his life on the edge and wants to carve his own path—just like Alex did. Then he meets Kiara Westford. She doesn’t talk much and is completely intimidated by Carlos’ wild ways. As they get to know one another, Carlos assumes Kiara thinks she’s too good for him, and refuses to admit that she might be getting to him. But he soon realizes that being himself is exactly what Kiara needs right now.

My Thoughts: It's time to meet the second Fuentes brother! His name is Carlos and he's just as bullheaded as Alex (from Perfect Chemistry) was! He's got a chip on his shoulder and is just as much a bad boy! He is coming up from Mexico to live with his brother! But of course his brother lives in student housing and Carlos gets into trouble so he's forced to live with a professor! On his first day of school (while he's living with Alex) he meets a girl named Kiara. She is quiet, shy, and his complete opposite. The girl doesn't even know how to dress. She also stutters sometimes when she talks. Kiara gets assigned to show Carlos around the school and he purposely mocks her to get a rise out of her. He isn't happy about coming up to stay with Alex so he is just not a happy person.

He goes to live with the professor and guess who is his daughter! Yep, that is right, it's Kiara. Carlos luck can not get any worst! Or can it? He gets sucked into a lot of bad situations such as a drug dealing scheme but he feels he has no other way out. He also makes a deal with Kiara to be his fake girlfriend so he can get rid of a girl who wants him. Little does he know, he will actually start to fall for Kiara.

I loved Rules Of Attraction just as much as Perfect Chemistry. Alex and Brittany are also main characters throughout the story so we are reintroduced to them and get to follow through on what happened to them! Rules Of Attraction was just as great as Perfect Chemistry! The chemistry between Kiara and Carlos is definitely there. I especially loved the scene during family night.

Carlos has to make a lot of tough decisions throughout the novel and he has a hard life, just as Alex did! Go read Rules Of Attraction now!

Overall: Loved it! I really liked Carlos, not quite as much as Alex but he was definitely as hot as Alex. His tattoo which said rebel totally did me in! I also like the way what Elkeles writes, feels real. The sex scenes in Perfect Chemistry and Rules Of Attraction are satisfying enough to leave readers with that feel good feeling without all the graphic details.

Cover: Love it! I love it even more than I love Perfect Chemistry! It's hot! And the mention of cars throughout the book just magnifies this cover more!

Slice Of Cherry by Dia Reeves

Summary: Happiness is a bloody knife.

Kit and Fancy Cordelle are sisters of the best kind: best friends, best confidantes, and best accomplices. The daughters of the infamous Bonesaw Killer, Kit and Fancy are used to feeling like outsiders, and that’s just the way they like it. But in Portero, where the weird and wild run rampant, the Cordelle sisters are hardly the oddest or most dangerous creatures around.

It’s no surprise when Kit and Fancy start to give in to their deepest desire—the desire to kill. What starts as a fascination with slicing open and stitching up quickly spirals into a gratifying murder spree. Of course, the sisters aren’t killing just anyone, only the people who truly deserve it. But the girls have learned from the mistakes of their father, and know that a shred of evidence could get them caught. So when Fancy stumbles upon a mysterious and invisible doorway to another world, she opens a door to endless possibilities....

My Thoughts: I think this one sounds really great! And the cover is awesome!
