Summary: His touch was electric.
His eyes were magnetic.
His lips were a temptation....
But was he real?

After crashing her car on an empty highway, Shane is miraculously saved by Travis, a mysterious cowboy who walks out of nowhere. She is instantly attracted to him, and for the first time, she believes in “soul mates.” But Shane soon discovers that Travis is dead and that strict rules from the Underworld govern kindred spirits of different dimensions. Breaking these rules could destroy both their souls. And while Travis is almost impossible to resist, temptation proves to be the kindest enemy they encounter.

Can true love surpass the power of pure evil? Part love story, part supernatural thriller, this first book in the Kindred trilogy will leave readers lusting for more!

My Thoughts: So, this sounds right up my alley. It sounds like something I would really love, a 5 cupcake rating. But it just wasn’t for me.

We are introduced to Shane who lives with her mother. She is just a normal girl with a boyfriend named Logan. Until one day, she gets in a car accident. Her car is totaled, and she is hurt badly, even on the brink of death. Until a mysterious boy steps up and heals her. His name is Travis. He is a sort of cowboy. He looks the part, and acts the part. This sounded so yummy to me.

She encounters Travis, and instantly falls in love with him. I hate the insta love thing! I hate it, I hate it, I hate it! It just doesn’t work in novels for me! Travis shows up again one day and gives her the necklace of hers he found. He randomly starts showing up, in different forms. Confused yet? Yes, that is what I thought too. What do you mean different forms? Read the novel to find out. Vampire, werewolf, shapeshifter, ghost, angel?

Travis and his brother are in a sort of purgatory. They committed some wrongs and are trying to make up for it in the afterlife.  And of course, they have an enemy who wants to hurt them more. Yep, Shane gets caught in the crossfire of that dilemma.

Honestly, The Temptation was an ok book but it just wasn’t for me. About halfway through I almost didn’t even finish it. I didn’t hate this one, but I also felt myself not caring at times and I just wanted the story to hurry up so I could at least find out the ending. Maybe some people will like this more than me. I’m just not a big fan of insta love, or the way they assumed they were “soulmates” from the beginning.  I can at least say I finished it, and it was an alright novel.

Overall: I read a lot of novels, and not every novel is going to be a 5 cupcake rating for me, and this one just wasn’t the right kind of novel for me and that is ok. I accept that I won’t always love novels and that some can just be average books for me. Maybe you’ll enjoy it a lot more than me.

Cover: I do like the cover. It’s not real colorful, but like how he fades in the background.

What I’d Give It:

Hmmm, this start to sound like a book I'm not going to enjoy. So I think I'm going to leave this one unread. Insta love is something that turns me of (sometimes I like it, when it is written well) What a shame, because it sounded and looked pretty good. Thanks for your honesty!
