The Unwritten Rule

By Elizabeth Scott

Summary: Everyone knows the unwritten rule: You don't like your best friend's boyfriend.

Sarah has had a crush on Ryan for years. He's easy to talk to, supersmart, and totally gets her. Lately it even seems like he's paying extra attention to her. Everything would be perfect except for two things: Ryan is Brianna's boyfriend, and Brianna is Sarah's best friend.

Sarah forces herself to avoid Ryan and tries to convince herself not to like him. She feels so guilty for wanting him, and the last thing she wants is to hurt her best friend. But when she's thrown together with Ryan one night, something happens. It's wonderful...and awful.

Sarah is torn apart by guilt, but what she feels is nothing short of addiction, and she can't stop herself from wanting more...

My Thoughts: I adore Elizabeth Scott's books as I have said many a time! The Unwritten Rule was no exception. I try to take my time reading her books, I like to devour each word, as if I'm actually tasting them. We are introduced to the three main characters, Sarah, Brianna, and Ryan. Ryan is dating Brianna but Sarah likes him. This book really tackles the sensitive subject of liking your friend's boyfriend. It happens to a lot of girls! You just can't choose who you fall for! Well, Sarah tries to keep her feelings at bay, she doesn't want to hurt Brianna but she also longs for Ryan. I didn't really like Brianna too much. She was selfish and didn't really care how Sarah felt about things.

Sarah learns that she needs to just go after what she wants, not sit on the sideline. Things don't always go as planned, nothing is 100% picture perfect. Ryan encourages her to just do what she wants, not what Brianna wants. She learns to grow through him. I really enjoyed this book. I love all of Elizabeth's books and this was just another great one from her. I loved it. So what happens? I love how Scott never just takes the easy way out, things don't always end up perfect and that is what makes her books so great and realistic! Does true love conquer all? Read it if you get the chance, you won't be disappointed.

Overall: Another great one!! If you haven't read Scott's books, go on a binge now and read them all!!

Cover: Its awesome! I love their jeans, and their feet touching. Its so gorgeous.

To Keep Or Not To Keep, is the question?

I was having a discussion with a friend of mine last night and I was wondering what everyone else does!

Do you keep books after you read them or pass them onto other people by donating them, trading, etc? If you do keep books, how do you decide which ones to keep or do you keep them all? Or do you let them all go on to new homes after you've read them?

If you keep them, what determines them to be put on your keep shelf? The plot? How much you enjoyed reading it? If you will reread it? The cover art?

Opinions, comments, thoughts?

Contest Craze For Bloggers?

As most of you know, I will be hosting the Contest Craze in April. It is a bunch of . Authors/bloggers donate books and people enter to win the books. Pretty simple!

I'm curious as to if there are any bloggers who want to donate an arc/finished copy. It has to have came out in 2009/2010. I'm looking for an estimate on who will be donating so I can keep track and add the books into the main list. (so I can figure out how far to space out each contest, etc)

What does this get you? It gets you time on the blog during the Contest Craze. I give your blog credit for donating (meaning I link you). And, I also tell a little bit about your blog! If your not 100% serious about donating, please don't sign up.

If you have a ongoing supply of arcs/books you can put undecided on the book you are donating but if you know which book you will be donating in April (put it aside for now and hold onto it) you can also tell me the name of it. Please don't signup unless your 100% sure you want to do this.

Prey By Rachel Vincent

Summary:
Sometimes playing cat and mouse is no game…

Play? Right. My Pride is under fire from all sides, my father's authority is in question and my lover is in exile. Which means I haven't laid eyes on Marc's gorgeous face in months. And with a new mother and an I-know-everything teenager under my protection, I don't exactly have time to fantasize about ever seeing him again.

Then our long-awaited reunion is ruined by a vicious ambush by strays. Now our group is under attack, Marc is missing and I will need every bit of skill and smarts to keep my family from being torn apart. Forever.

My Thoughts: Oh yes! I put off reading this for a while after I bought it. I wanted to wait until closer to the release date of Shift (book 5). I finally got around to reading it and let me tell you, I was blown away and am happy book 5 is out! We are re-introduced to Faythe, Marc, and all the other werecats. But this time, all the werecats are under attack and they must fight and defend their territory. I've always had a thing for Marc. Yes, he's a bit controlling sometimes but he is still my number 1 man. By the end of this book though, I was also quite drawn to Jace. He really sparked my interest. Well, Faythe's life is changing. She is gaining more independence and learns to really defend herself. Marc gets kidnapped and she never gives up hope for him. They must find him and quickly! We also see her brother Ethan throughout the book. We get introduced to new characters. This book was truly amazing. I cried, I laughed, and the last chapter really leaves you hanging. My mouth dropped open and stayed there for a minute!! This series is fast paced and full of action. This is by far one of the best series I have ever read and you should give it a try right now if you haven't!

Overall: Loved it! But now I'm torn between Marc and Jace!!! I think, I'll just take them both please.

Cover: Its cute! All the covers have the same elements and they are all cute.

I Feel Like I'm Back In High School

I don't generally share too many personal things on here, because I figure you come here to read book reviews, not read about my personal life but this one is for anyone whose ever had a big test like I have today!

So, I'm almost done with college. I am taking Algebra right now, ONLINE! No teacher, nobody there to tell me if I'm right or wrong! I live an hour away from the campus and can't drive so I take most of my classes online through the college. My boyfriend has tried to help me, he just "gets" it so its hard for him to understand how I "don't." All week I have wanted to throw my book across the room! LOL. I'm just not very good at fractions, negative numbers, all the million formula's dealing with algebra. I'm also not a good test taker! I'm more a writer or daily work type of girl!

Well, today is my first proctored exam. Do I feel ready? No. Not at all. I'm scared out of my mind. Half the time I don't know what I'm doing. I never learned this stuff. When I was in high school, I had one of those teachers who gave you the assignment and walked by your desk, if you "attempted" to do it you got credit that day. Most of the time, I didn't know if my answers were right or wrong. I went to him a few times, and the only time he had "time" to help was after school so that was a no go most days.

I feel like I'm back in high school. All night long I tossed and turned and had dreams about taking this darn test. One of them, I forgot my pencils! Another one, I didn't hear the teacher say to start so when I glanced around, everyone was finished and turning their test in and I hadn't even started yet!!! My stomach hurts, I woke up so many times soaked in sweat! I've been working on the assignments out of the book and when I check my answers, half of them are wrong! Of course we can't use the book, notes, or a calculator today. And the test is 2 1/2 hours long!

Thanks for letting me vent, I now at least feel a little bit better. I don't know how much that is going to help me with the test though! LOL

FYI:My Major is Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. I am almost FINISHED.

The Sky Is Everywhere

By Jandy Nelson

Summary:
Seventeen-year-old Lennie Walker, bookworm and band geek, plays second clarinet and spends her time tucked safely and happily in the shadow of her fiery older sister, Bailey. But when Bailey dies abruptly, Lennie is catapulted to center stage of her own life—and, despite her nonexistent history with boys, suddenly finds herself struggling to balance two. Toby was Bailey’s boyfriend; his grief mirrors Lennie’s own. Joe is the new boy in town, a transplant from Paris whose nearly magical grin is matched only by his musical talent. For Lennie, they’re the sun and the moon; one boy takes her out of her sorrow, the other comforts her in it. But just like their celestial counterparts, they can’t collide without the whole wide world exploding.

My Thoughts:
I had this book recommended to me by a few different people because they know I'm a huge YA romance fan, especially of Elizabeth Scott and Susane Colasanti, and this book is similar. I really enjoyed reading The Sky Is Everywhere. Doesn't the plot sound pretty amazing? We meet Lennie who is a band geek whose sister just died. No warning, no symptoms, it just happened one day. Lennie starts to get close to her sister's boyfriend and the new guy at school, so basically she is torn between them. We also get to read Lennie's poems throughout the book which just make the story more amazing. The girl's mom took off when they were young so they've lived with their grandmother their whole life. I really enjoyed reading this book. Yes, I admit I liked both guys. I could feel her pain and understand why she was so drawn to her sister's boyfriend Toby but I couldn't help but like Joe too. I do feel a little guilty though, a part of me wanted her to end up with the other guy (the one she does not end up with) but the other part of me wanted her to end up with the one she did. I was quite torn as well. I couldn't make up my mind on which guy was better for her. They both had their reasons as to why. The details we find out throughout the book only make it more amazing. There were so many little things that just made this story what it was. I agree, fans of Elizabeth Scott will devour this book. What happens to Lennie? What is the backline with her sister's death? What happens with Toby and Joe?

Overall: Really liked it a lot. I could feel Lennie's pain throughout the book and I can understand why she did the things she did.

Cover: Its cute. Artsy and makes you think a little.

Little Miss Red by Robin Palmer

Summary:Sophie Greene gets good grades, does the right thing, and has a boyfriend that her parents— and her younger brother—just love. (Too bad she doesn’t love him.) Sophie dreams of being more like Devon Deveraux, star of her favorite romance novels, but, in reality, Sophie isn’t even daring enough to change her nail polish. All of that changes when Sophie goes to Florida to visit her grandma Roz, and she finds herself seated next to a wolfishly good-looking guy on the plane. The two hit it off, and before she knows it, Sophie’s living on the edge. But is the drama all it’s cracked up to be?

My Thoughts: I was really looking forward to this one from the moment I heard about it last year! I read another one of Robin's and liked it a whole lot. This one was also a good one. We meet Sophie who has been dating Josh for 3 years. She was supposed to go with him down to Florida but he gets sick so she goes down to visit her grandmother alone. Lately, she has felt like they don't have a connection anymore, the romance has started to run sour. Right before she leaves, Josh tells her he thinks they should take a "break." On the plane she meets Jack. Can he be her soulmate? He does end up sitting next to her! Well, she spends the plane ride talking to him and getting to know him. Her grandmother meets him at the airport and invites him home with them since he has nowhere to stay. Sophie gets to know him over the next few weeks and she fees like they have a connection. He is sort of a bad boy so she feels drawn to him. From the get go, I did not like the guy. I thought he was a user. He kept on insisting Sophie pay for everything and that really bothered me. I didn't find him to be charming or sexy like Sophie did. I wanted her to stay with Josh and work on their relationship. A bunch of money comes up missing and Sophie thinks Jack took it. Josh than comes to Florida to see Sophie. What happens next? Read the book to find out. Do Sophie and Jack get together? Do Josh and Sophie stay together? Who took the money? What happens?

Overall: I enjoyed reading this book but I just did not like Jack from the get go. I liked Sophie but her choices are all over the place and she falls in lust too easily. Oh, and the references to Nicholas Sparks were definitely awesome! Heart his books!

Cover: Love the cover. Its really cute and love her clothes and shoes. She looks stylish.

Cindy's Boyfriend Of The Week (26)

Every week on Monday I host Cindy's Boyfriend Of The Week. It is mainly just a feature where I talk about how devoted I am to actors, singers, etc.

This Weeks boyfriend is Freddie Prinze Jr

Freddie Prinze, Jr. was born on March 8, 1976, in Los Angeles, California, and lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in his early life. He is married to Sarah Michelle Gellar, and has one child with her. He was named one of "People" magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People [2000]. Enjoys swimming, and recently took up tap dancing.

He had to shave his head after filming Scooby-Doo (2002) because the bleach ruined his hair.

He has the same manager as Jared Padalecki.

You may have seen Freddie in multiple movies such as Scooby Doo, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Summer Catch, She's All That and many others!

He is also joining the cast of 24. I will have to rent these on dvd soon so I can see him when the new season is released on dvd. hehe.

Come on girls, if you were born anywhere near the year I was, you knew who Freddie was, you had posters on your bedroom wall of him, you were probably like me and thought he was the hottest guy on earth. HEHE! You probably watched She's All That soo many times, the dvd won't work. (Am I guilty of this??? LOL) I actually went and saw She's All That and Summer Catch more than a few times in the theater!

I think Freddie deserves to be my boyfriend of the week, after all he was my fantasy boyfriend for many days-weeks-month-years (HEHE) during my adolescent years.

Contest Craze, Your Opinion?

Back in October, I hosted a bunch of contests for Contest Craze. I've been working on this years contests. Contest Craze is the weekend of April 10th but will start early during that week.

Last time I held the contests within a 3 day period. Remember, they were like every half hour or so during the read a thon, than a few were the day before it started. I'm sure most of you remember.

How would you like me to do it this year? Would you like the contests to be a week thing, where I suspend all my regular postings for the whole week and just do the Contest contests or would you like me to do it within the 3 day period again? Thoughts, opinions, questions???

There will also be a few mini challenges again as well. If you have ideas, suggestions, leave them here too!!!

I can't wait until April, what about you?

I'm So Sure by Jenny B Jones

Summary: First, her family is chosen for a reality TV show, then she's forced to get a part-time job at a feminine hygiene plant. Bella tries to press STOP before she totally loses her cool.

Bella Kirkwood is finally situated in her new hometown, but she's not ready for the whirlwind of randomness that takes place next. When her stepdad enters a new wrestling reality show, Bella is pulled along for the ride as her life goes on display for all the world to see. When the cameras roll, Bella must solve a prom-queen mystery, deal with her returning ex-boyfriend, and keep her cool as she works alongside the hot but irritating newspaper editor Luke Sullivan.

Who needs TV when you're living the charmed life?

My Thoughts: Whoa, what a book. I really enjoyed this one. A little less than the first one but that was probably because of the wresting angle. But it was still great. We are introduced to Bella again and her friends and family. Her life has became a national tv show. A reality show! This book is full of laugh out loud moments just like its ancestor. We are reunited with newspaper editor Luke Sullivan and her crappy ex-boyfriend Hunter. I enjoyed Luke's presence in this book very much. Of course the show makes everything look like more than it is. It catches her in some sticky situations. It catches her in misleading situations with Luke and Hunter both. I loved the family angle again. I loved the farm angle. I really liked this book a lot. Honestly, you have to read this series. I can't wait til book 3 comes out. I want it now! I can't wait to see what happens with Bella and Luke.

Overall: Loved it! Looking forward to book 3! Can it just hurry up and get published so I can devour it?? I have a feeling I'm going to like it even more than the first 2! hehe

Cover: Its cute! I love the animals on each of the book covers!

So what if I occasionally use the pipes to sneak around the Upper levels? Not like it's all that dangerous - the only neck I risk is my own. Until I accidentally start a rebellion and become the go-to girl to lead a revolution. I should have just said no...

I can't wait to read this!!! yay!

Win Linger Now!

Ok, lets be realistic here, who does not want to win Linger? I am so flipping excited for this book! I want to jump up and down and yell at the top of my lungs!!! Do you remember my review of Shiver? I fell in love with Shiver!

Comes out in stores everywhere July 20th. Pre-order here.

In Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack. And Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves . . . and is nonetheless drawn to Cole.

At turns harrowing and euphoric, Linger is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love -- the light and the dark, the warm and the cold -- in a way you will never forget.

Enter to win an advanced review copies of LINGER, and misc other books on Maggie's blog.

The Life Of Glass by Jillian Cantor

Summary: Before he died, Melissa’s father told her about stars. He told her that the brightest stars weren’t always the most beautiful—that if people took the time to look at the smaller stars, if they looked with a telescope at the true essence of the star, they would find real beauty. But even though Melissa knows that beauty isn’t only skin deep, the people around her don’t seem to feel that way. There’s her gorgeous sister Ashley who will barely acknowledge Melissa at school, there's her best friend Ryan, who may be falling in love with the sophisticated Courtney, and there’s Melissa’s mother who’s dating someone new, someone who Melissa knows will never be able to replace her father.

To make sure she doesn’t lose her father completely, Melissa spends her time trying to piece together the last of his secrets and completing a journal her father began—one about love and relationships and the remarkable ways people find one another. But when tragedy strikes, Melissa has to start living and loving in the present, as she realizes that being beautiful on the outside doesn't mean you can't be beautiful on the inside.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed reading this book! This is such a complex yet simple book, you'll have to read the book to totally understand what I mean. We meet Melissa who is just your average teenage girl. She watched her father wither away day by day and pass away finally. It happened in the beginning of the book so you feel the heartbreak right away. I think I could relate to her in so many ways. My father also passed away when I was 13 years old, so I knew exactly how Melissa felt. We meet the side characters such as Melissa's family, Melissa's best friend and neighbor Ryan. Ryan seemed like a somewhat nerdy guy but he was such a sweetheart. We meet Courtney who is new, so a few of the guys want her and of course she takes an interest in Ryan. At that moment, Melissa realizes her feelings for Ryan may run a little deeper than she thought. I felt like I could really relate to Melissa and I enjoyed reading our Ryan and Courtney's biking adventures. I liked hearing about her father's journal. I liked all the other side characters. I thought this book was sweet. You'll have to read it to find out what happened to Melissa and Ryan's relationship, Courtney and Melissa's friendship, and how she dealt with her father's death. I recommend this book. Have the tissues handy.

Overall: Loved it a lot. It was a sweet and emotional book.

Cover: I like the cover and I like how it really does look like glass. Its a nice cover.

Cindy's Boyfriend Of The Week (25)

Every week on Monday I host Cindy's Boyfriend Of The Week. It is mainly just a feature where I talk about how devoted I am to actors, singers, etc.

This Weeks boyfriend is Robert Downey Jr

Robert John Downey Jr. was born in Greenwich Village, New York City in 1965. He's the son of underground filmmaker Robert Downey Sr.

Names Peter O'Toole as his favorite actor.

Lived with Sarah Jessica Parker for 7 years during the 1980s.

Was roommates with Kiefer Sutherland in the early '80s.

I really like Robert. I didn't really pay much attention to him until Iron Man but I loved his character and he grew on me. He's a cutie for an older man.
