Summary: 3 seconds left to live. Once the countdown starts, it cannot be stopped.

2 pawns thrown into a brutal underground reality game.

Kira Jordan survived her family's murder and months on plague-devastated city streets with hard-won savvy and a low-level psi ability. She figures she can handle anything. Until she wakes up in a barren room, chained next to the notorious Rogan Ellis.

1 reason Kira will never, ever trust Rogan. Even though both their lives depend on it.

Their every move is controlled and televised for a vicious exclusive audience. And as Kira's psi skill unexpectedly grows and Rogan's secrets prove evermore deadly, Kira's only chance of survival is to risk trusting him as much as her instincts. Even if that means running head-on into the one trap she can't escape.

GAME 0VER

My Thoughts: I liked this one but I didn’t love it as much as I hoped I would. We are introduced to Kira who has had it rough. Her parents and sister were murdered two years ago and ever since Kira has been on the streets. She could have went into foster care but she knows its not much better anyway. She does things she wants, she does what she has to in order to survive.

We are also introduced to Rogan who is on his way to a real prison. He has been in the system for a while now but his next stop is a brutal prison where nobody wants to survive anyway.

Both teens are thrown into a game called Countdown. Countdown is basically a game where people are chosen and they have to compete in order to survive. Its brutal. People are murdered. They have to do crazy things in order to pass to the next level.

In this segment, Rogan and Kira get paired up together as partners. They can’t be within so many feet away or else their brains will get fried. Both of them have a lot of hard challenges ahead of them. I liked watching this novel progress but I felt so sorry for both of them the whole time. Of course, Rogan’s past isn’t all sunshine and cherries either so things are hard for him as well as Kira.

This one did have some violet moments but it also had some sweet moments. I was rooting for both characters the whole time.

I’m ok with the ending but I want more. I want to know what will happen next in both of their lives.

Overall: I liked the characters and the plot was interesting but at times, I just wanted to get to the ending and find out what happens. I think this is probably more of a 3.5 rating for me. I liked it, it was interesting, I just didn’t fall in love with it. If there is another one in the series, I will read it!

Cover: Like it!  Like how they are just looking out into the city.
