Breathless by Lurlene McDaniel

Summary: What is the toughest request anyone can be asked to fulfill?

Travis Morrison is a champion diver and one of the most popular kids at school. On the first day of summer vacation, while boating on the lake with his friends, Travis attempts a silly stunt dive that goes wrong. He fears he has broken his leg. Instead, his trip to the hospital reveals he has a rare form of cancer, and to save him, the doctors tell his parents they must amputate. In an instant, Travis’s life and the lives of everyone around him are forever changed.

Travis is determined that he and only he should decide the course of his life. He has a plan, but he can’t carry it out alone. Will he convince one of his friends to fulfill his most important request?

My Thoughts: WOW! Another one of those books that leaves me at the end, with a what next? Who did it? My mouth literally dropped open. From start to finish this book was pretty awesome! I usually do not like where it switches between different people's thoughts, but this book, it actually worked!!! We meet Travis who is a diver. He is a athlete! We meet his sister, his girlfriend, and his best friend. This story is told from each of their perspectives. Do we have a choice on the way we want to die? Should it be our choice? Do we have a say in it? From start to finish, this book is amazing. Travis gets in accident and from there on we learn his story!

Overall: Great Book! One I'd recommend you read this year. Of course its also under 200 pages but definitely worth reading. I read it in one sitting which I usually can not do anymore. This book addresses a tough choice. And the last few pages will leave you with a what the heck just happened expression on your face!

Cover: I think it does fit the book but didn't draw me in as much as usual. At first glance, it takes a minute to actually realize what the picture is (he's in the water) The story is what got me on this one.

This book has been floating "pun intended", around the blogosphere quite a bit lately. I think it sounds like a good read, and now I want to read it even more due to your review.
