My Thoughts: I had heard such fabulous things about Don't Stop Now! Friends had recommended it, I had read reviews on goodreads, so I was more than ready to dive in once I got a copy!
We are introduced To Lil and her best friend Josh. We are also introduced to Lil's friend Penny. They have just graduated high school and Lil will be going away to college in the fall. Josh's plans are to make it big in music.
The book starts off with a message from Penny asking Lil not to tell on her. She has run away; faked her own kidnapping to go see her new friend Ethan. Penny feels trapped by her boyfriend back home, to me he seems like he is abusive and controlling. Penny also wants to get away from her parents and little sister. They take advantage of her and don't really appreciate her.
Lil and Josh decide to go after Penny, making the open road an adventurous road trip. On the way they stop in different towns and experience things together. They get t-shirts, they try new foods, they go to museums, they even sleep in the same bed; all while waiting for Penny to call back. The police contact Lil, Penny's parents contact Lil, there are a lot of phone calls throughout the trip. Josh and Lil have been best friends since freshmen year while Lil has been in love with Josh the whole time. She's watched him go through girlfriends, and never once really bat an eye at her.
I really enjoyed reading Don't Stop Now. It was a fun time. The dialogue was really easy to read and it flowed just right. It was easy to get sucked in and experience the road with them.
Do they find Penny? Is she ok? What happens between Josh and Lil if anything? Read the book now!
Overall: I really enjoyed Don't Stop Now! This is definitely a summer or nice weather read. I don't think it would have the same experience with 6 inches of snow on the ground. But if its snowing there, don't let that take away the experience, imagine your on the open road with Josh and Lil going someplace sunny!
Don't Stop Now was a fun road trip read! Definitely one you want to check out!
