Jennifer Echols, Niki Burnham, OH MY!

So, how many of you are like me and see that an author is releasing a new book and get all giddy and happy about it? And than jump and go preorder it??

That was me back in July when I saw both books pop up on Barnes And Noble. And it said they were releasing only in E-Book. So I preordered and started counting down the days until December 20th.

Untitled by Niki Burnham
Summary: In a new twist on a classic premise, a girl struggles with feelings that are all too real when she agrees to be the fake girlfriend of her older brothers best friend--in order to help him impress the girl of his dreams. Only things don't go as planned......
This ebook only addition to a bestselling series is sure to give eager readers instant romantic gratification.

The One That I Want by Jennifer Echols
Summary:  Gemma can’t believe her luck when the star football player starts flirting with her. Max is totally swoon-worthy, and even gets her quirky sense of humor. So when he asks out her so-called best friend Addison, Gemma’s heartbroken.
Then Addison pressures Gemma to join the date with one of Max’s friends. But the more time they all spend together, the harder Gemma falls for Max. She can’t help thinking that Max likes her back—it’s just too bad he’s already dating Addison. How can Gemma get the guy she wants without going after her best friend’s boyfriend?

Score. I thought to myself. I MUST HAVE NOW!!!!

The beginning of December I got an email from B And N saying my credit card has been charged and I can now download The One That I Want on my precious Nook. I go to download... Unable to download.

Lets just say this, after spending hours on the phone with them, I disconnected very upset! They had me check my wifi, restart my nook, check for new updates, and a million other things. I spent about 3 hours on the phone with them total. While they put me on hold, transferred me, etc. The last resort, they had me unauthorize and reset my nook. What did this do? I lost all my ebooks. Netgalley books, bought books, lend books, everything. It was like having  a brand new Nook. Yes, I could load everything back on later, but what a pain.

I decided to give up and wait until February to buy the book in paperback (it's coming out squeee).

Did anyone else have this problem? Did you get it downloaded finally?

So, today, I'm excited to download the new Niki Burnham. I go to my account and sure enough the book is missing, gone, the page is no longer there for it. I'm kinda upset but I later find out that they actually changed the description and the title of her new book. No big deal, right? Well it would be, if they actually would have just merged the pages or told us this! Maybe send the people emails who preordered the book, the title has changed,  and is now available as a new title.  Because the ebook released 2 months ago! If I had known it was the same book, I would have read it 2 months ago. It also just came out in paperback.

So, all in all, it sucks being so excited for new releases and than have them mess up! It's not the author's fault, it's nobody's fault really, it was just really disappointing!!! And I wanted to share this incase any of you were also waiting on these two lovely books and wondered what the heck was going on with them.

Is anyone else still unable to download The One That I Want?  Or are you like me, and finally gave up and will order the paperback. I tried again to download it today and I'm done-unable to do it again! Am just going to wait.

All in all, I just wanted to tell everyone, this is the untitled Niki Burnham that got its name and description changed!

And the new Jennifer Echols, wishing February would get here so I can finally have!

Happy Reading!

When I first got my Nook Color I preordered Rachel Hawkins' book Demonglass 2 months in advance. The day it came out, I was unable to download it as well. I called Nook support and everything you said they did with me. ACCEPT, I asked about the deregistering of my Nook and when they told me that it involved me losing everything on it, I said HELLS NO.

They ended up refunding me with a giftcard in the mail for the cost of the e-book and fixing the computer so I could re-buy it as the ebook. And sure enough, if you go to buy it on release day it works.

So my advice is never pre-order a Nook book. It's not like theyre going to run out of copies. Just wait until release day to buy it because pre-ordering never works out as far as I am concerned.

EXCEPT not ACCEPT LOL

So if you still cant buy the book, ask them to refund you the cost in the mail as a giftcard. Have them fix the system so it shows you did not buy it...and then try to rebuy it and it should work.

Hi Cindy, good description of the problem! As you know (we chatted about this on Goodreads, y'all), I had the same problem with two books I pre-ordered on Nook, The One That I Want by Jennifer Echols, and Struck, by Rhonda Stapleton. Basically, same issues, although I was finally able to download them today, after re-syncing my Nook, which like Cindy says, is a big hassle, although I just have plain ole books, no Netgalley or other unique stuff. Anyhoo, I prob won't be pre-ordering again, either. I might note that Jennifer herself was very nice about this (has to be upsetting on your release day, cause lots of people had this problem and tweeted about it). They told her it was fixed, but I still had problems for another week at least after that. Thanks for giving everyone the heads up, Cindy!
