Summary: First she lost her heart. Then she lost her mind. And now she’s on a road trip to win back her ex. This debut novel’s packed with drama and romance!Rosie’s always been impulsive. She didn’t intend to set her cheating ex-boyfriend’s car on fire. And she never thought her attempts to make amends could be considered stalking. So when she’s served with a temporary restraining order on the first day of summer vacation, she’s heartbroken—and furious.

To put distance between Rosie and her ex, Rosie’s parents send her on a cross-country road trip with responsible, reliable neighbor Matty and his two friends. Forget freedom of the road, Rosie wants to hitchhike home and win back her ex. But her determination starts to dwindle with each passing mile. Because Rosie’s spark of anger? It may have just ignited a romance with someone new…

My Thoughts: This was a cute fun novel! We are introduced to Rosie who just set her ex-boyfriend Joey’s car on fire. It was an accident. She only meant to burn a box of his stuff. But then the whole car torched and she now has a restraining order against her. Joey and Rosie broke up because he cheated on her with another girl.

Rosie is upset, yet she still thinks about him and kind of wants to be with him. If he changes, that is. She also has a brother and a friend who lives next door. The friend next door is Matty. He’s a pretty funny guy. They have been friends most of their life.

When Matty comes up with a plan to get Rosie away from their town, her parents go for it. She’s to go on a road trip with him and two of his friends. Their names are Spencer and Logan. Logan is a little older than Rosie and is going off to college. Thats what the road trip is about. Spencer is kind of a control freak.

Matty, Rosie, Spencer and Logan hit the road and Spencer has an itinerary. He knows exactly where they are going to stop and has a plan!  Rosie is a riot, and I loved her interactions with all three boys. They meet some cool people along the way and visit some rockin places!

It was fun seeing Rosie experience what was going on, and start to realize the truth about her and her situation.

And, I loved the road trip angle of this! Road trip novels always get me! I love them so much! I love the feeling that I’m right there on the road with them! Love it!

Overall: This debut rocked for me. I really enjoyed it alot. I was a little surprised at the ending but I thought it went pretty well. I thought Rosie was a funny character and I liked her personality. How My Summer Went Up In Flames was a pretty neat debut novel and I can’t wait to read more debuts this year.

Cover: Its really colorful, right? The colors just fit. Its kind of bright. And the car fits this road trip novel! And she’s got her bag!  I really like this cover.

What I’d Give It:
